July 17-31, 2018:
The University of Toronto Summer School Drone Training Program was successfully held by Canada International Education Group (CIEG), University of Toronto (UofT) and The International Drone Association for Youth (iDAY) at the UofT St. George Campus in July 2018 for two weeks.
The students came from China and some parents participated and enjoyed the program. The students learned not only Drone technologies and operational skills from University of Toronto instructors, but also English writing, oral presentation, and public speaking skills taught by a well-known University of Toronto English professor. We learned from world well-known Canadian Scientists and Professors about the trend of new technologies of Robotics, Drones, Automation, 3D VR/AR, Artificial Intelligence, and their applications in medicine, health care, construction, transportation, space, and even our day-to-day life, etc.
While living on University of Toronto campus, they learned the campus life by their first-hand experience. They visited world famous UofT Roberts and other libraries, Hart House, the office buildings of several Nobel Prize Winners, the new Robotics laboratory, and Student Drone Club, etc. The student also took the opportunities to visit several Canadian top universities such as Queen’s University, Royal Military College, Carleton University, McGill, and McMaster University, etc. They also learned rich Canadian culture by visiting the Parliament Hill and General Governor’s House in Ottawa, the Thousand Island in Kingston, The world famous Niagara Falls, CN Tower, and The Royal Ontario Museum, Lake of Ontario, etc. Each day students tasted different cuisines from different culture and experienced the typical and unique Canadian multicultural society. While the graduation ceremony was held in the City Hall of Markham, they had a rare opportunity to visit the Debate Chamber and play roles of Mayor and Councilors, etc. for making decisions for the municipal politics. The most important for the students is the fun they had from learning different knowledge, skills, abilities, culture, participating indoor and outdoor activities everyday, and interacting with many Canadians. Day 1: China to Toronto
Airport pick-up and Canada university student residence check-in, start to experience Canadian summer camp and special foods.
Day 2: Visit Kingston
Morning: Visit Queen’s University and Royal Military College of Canada
Afternoon: Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises Tour
Evening: Taste Kingston famous Hawaii Poutine, then drive to Ottawa
Evening: stay in Ottawa house, get homestay experience
Day 3: Visit Ottawa
Morning: Visit Rideau Hall, Rideau Canal, Parliament Hill and Centennial Flame
Afternoon: Visit University of Ottawa and Carleton University
Evening: Taste Montreal French dinner, learn western dining etiquette and how to use forks and knives
Visit Carleton University Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering lab and have lunch with the professor Mojtaba Ahmadi.
Evening, have dinner at Montreal, taste Canadian steak, learn western dining etiquette and how to use forks and knives.
Day 4: Visit Montreal
Morning: Visit Old Montreal and McGill University
Afternoon: Visit Mount Royal and Saint Joseph’s Oratory
Evening: Back to Toronto
Day 5: Visit Niagara Falls and McMaster University
Morning: Visit Niagara Falls, voyage to the Falls Boat Tour
Afternoon: Visit McMaster University and McMaster Nuclear Reactor which is the only campus nuclear reactor in the world
Evening: Canadian dinner
Day 6: Treetop Trekking challenge and lakeside of Ontario BBQ
Morning: Zip Line & Aerial Game Treks

Surround yourself with nature and fresh air, as you trek from tree to tree on fun games like suspended bridges, Tarzan swings, swinging logs, cable traverses, and of course zip lines!
Afternoon: BBQ at lakeside of Ontario, enjoy Canadian summer life style
Day 7: Public Speech Class and Drone Training
Morning: Public speech and debate class, focus on Canadian education and culture
Afternoon: Drone training, focus on basic Components of a drone, Drone Assembly and its Flying Mechanism, Simulate/Test Flying
Evening: Visit University of Toronto Drone Lab and discuss with International students for the oversea study and living in Canada, then learn how to shop in local supermarket
Day 8: Public Speech Class and Drone Training
Morning: Public speech and debate class, focus on daily English and communication skills
Afternoon: Flying Techniques and Safe Flying Guides, Test Flying
Evening: Visit University of Toronto IRM (Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics) Lab
Optional: Watch Toronto FC football or Toronto Blue Jays baseball (paid by students)
After the drone training class, University of Toronto professor Susset Munoz Perez guide students to visit UoT IRM (Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics) Lab. This is new robotics lab and will open in September 2018, we are the first visitors, thanks professor Susset Munoz Perez
Day 9: Public Speech Class and Drone Training
Morning: Public speech and debate class, focus on how to order in Canadian restaurant and prepare a Canadian style presentation
Afternoon: Flying Techniques and Safe Flying Guides, Test Flying
Evening: Introduction of Canada study and immigration policy and taste Mexico food
Day 10: Public Speech Class and Drone Training
Morning: Public Speaking Graduation Presentation
Afternoon: Drone mechanical and assemble practice, practicing Picking Up objects
Evening: Summarize the whole week learning
Graduation Presentation:

Evening: taste Tai Food, practice order by themselves
Day 11: Drone Training
Whole Day: Flying Through Hoops, introduce International Youth Drone Competition rules and graduation competition

Day 13: Visit local private school and graduation presentation
Morning: Visit local private school and experience school bus
Afternoon: Graduation presentation and certificate award in City of Markham city hall, all students sign before the presentation
